Last weekend, I took my daughter to two soccer games.
The first one was on Saturday. We watched the Seattle Sounders pummel the Colorado Rapids 4-1. The game was awesome, highlighted by a corner kick headed back to Clint Dempsey, who headed the ball over the keepers outstretched arm. My daughter got to experience the Sounders fans, the team’s band and all of the carnival that goes with a Sounders game.
The second game was on Sunday. The Seattle Reign FC was playing the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League‘s second season. Seattle won the game 2-0, keeping the ball in Houston’s end of the field most of the game. It was very entertaining to watch. The venue, Memorial Stadium, is much more subdued than the Sounders Century Link Field, but the collection of players is awesome.
In addition to Megan Rapino and Hope Solo, whom you’d recognize from Olympics and World cups past, they also have stars like Keelin Winters, Sydney Laroux and Kim Little. More than that, the rest of the team plays at a championship level.
The Reign has ended April, the first month of the season, 4-0.
